Federaţia Română de Şah a stabilit cei mai buni zece sportivi ai anului 2008. Primii trei şahişti sînt Dieter Nisipeanu, Ioan-Cristian Chirilă şi Alina Moţoc. Ei sînt urmaţi în clasament de Iozefina Pauleţ, Mihai Şubă, Constantin Lupulescu, Luminiţa Cosma, Corina Peptan, Vladislav Nevednichy, Marcel Crişan. (Csikos Roland)
