The midfielders who covered the two sides in the match with France, Bogdan Mara and Maximilian Nicu, were Răzvan Lucescu’s most contested players after the draw on Stade de France.
The former defender of the national team, Cornel Dinu, affirms that Mihai Roman and the deportee Adrian Cristea would have been much better solutions:
"Roman is more indicated than Mara, and Adrian Cristea would have been more inspired on Max Nicu’s side".
Even Gigi Becali criticised the two:
"If Mara couldn’t impose himself in the 2nd Spanish league, then he shouldn’t have been convoked at the national team. You cannot make a good thing with him, he lost all the balls. Răzvan brought Max Nicu, while Piţurcă didn’t need him, because he has falcon eyes, he reads the players. We need champions, not players like Max Nicu.".
