1-1 with France » Good bye, qualification! The point helps us for EC 2012

Articol de Ionuţ Iordache   —  luni, 07 septembrie 2009

The result from Paris drew us out completely from the competition for a place in tie-break, but it keeps us in the second ballot box for Euro 2012

The little chances to the qualification we had before the match with France split after the result from Saturday. Being at a distance of 6 points behind the French and being disadvantaged by the direct results, the "tricolors" have no chance to reach to World Cup 2010. And this thing happens because France needs only one victory in front of Feroe Islands in order to finish in front of Romania.

The only chance to qualify:

If Romania defeats Austria (a), Serbia (d) and Feroe (a)

If France wind only one point from the matches with Serbia (d), with Feroe (a) and Austria (a)

On the other hand, this 1-1 in front of the world vice champions is perfect for the European Championship  from 2012. And this because it keeps us with real chances in the competitions for a place in the second ballot box as value, even if for the moment we are on the last position in this ballot box. In order not to have any emotion, Răzvan Lucescu’s team has to win with Austria and Feroe and obtain at least a draw in Serbia.

The ballot takes place in February

The ballot boxes for Euro 2012 will be established according to the results obtained at World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008, plus those from the last three preliminaries. Even if UEFA hasn’t announced yet the system of evolution for the preliminaries CE 2012, probably there will be 6 groups with 6 teams and 3 groups with 5 teams. That is why; there will be 5 ballot boxes with 9 teams and one ballot box with 6 teams. The ballot is scheduled on February 07, 2010, in Poland.

The 4th qualification missed

After the draw from Stade de France, the present generation of the "national", whose leaders are Adrian Mutu and Cristi Chivu (photo), wasted another chance to participate to a final tour. Since 2000, the "tricolors" have missed another three qualifications, to the WC 2002, EC 2004 and WC 2006. The only qualification was that obtained last year at the European Championship.

21,215
is Romania’s coefficient in these preliminaries. Our country is on the 34th place in Europe after the results obtained in this campaign
